Democrat Lawyer Marc Elias Praises Gov. Doug Ducey for Accepting Arizona General Election Results

Prominent left-wing lawyer Marc Elias, creator of the progressive media outlet Democracy Docket, praised Arizona Governor Doug Ducey (R) for accepting the results of the 2022 Arizona gubernatorial race.

“Amen, Governor, amen,” said Elias.

Elias made this comment in response to a meeting Ducey had with Democrat Governor-elect Katie Hobbs. Ducey said the meeting was to congratulate Hobbs on her victory in this election and offer his administration’s full support in helping her transition and hit the group running in 2023. Ducey also made a statement about the results of this election.

“All of us have waited patiently for the democratic process to play out. The people of Arizona have spoken, their votes have been counted and we respect their decision,” Ducey said. “No matter who we voted for, all of us have a stake in Arizona’s success. Our future is bright and boundless. Let us never forget that as we begin this next chapter in our state’s history.”

However, the campaign of Republican gubernatorial nominee Kari Lake called out Ducey for holding the meeting and accepting the results of an election it called “an absolute disaster.”

“The election was an absolute disaster. An untold number of your constituents were disenfranchised. Hobbs helped run it. It’s unfair to the people of Arizona to legitimize a process that they believe is illegitimate before addressing their concerns,” tweeted the Lake campaign.

Ducey had not made any significant remarks on the 2022 general election until Wednesday’s meeting.

All votes have allegedly been counted in Arizona, and Lake trails Hobbs by 17,116 votes, a difference of 0.6 percent. Under Arizona law, races go to an automatic recount if the difference is 0.5 percent or less, so as it stands, Hobbs will take office come January 2023.

However, as reported by the Arizona Sun Times, Lake has not conceded in this race. Lake pointed to issues across Maricopa County as evidence that many Arizona voters were disenfranchised on Election Day. Because of this, Lake said she is preparing to take legal action against the state. She told her followers she is collecting accounts from Arizonans who experienced issues while voting to form her case.

Also taking legal action against Arizona is the Republican nominee for Attorney General Abe Hamadeh. He currently trails his Democrat opponent Kris Mayes by just over 500 votes, meaning his race will go to a recount. Hamadeh filed a lawsuit with the Republican National Committee Tuesday, alleging that undertrained Maricopa County poll workers affected the election outcomes.
